Gary Riebesehl from the USA is crowned Best of Belron 2016
23 May 2016
Gary Riebesehl from our Safelite® business in the USA, has won the title Best of Belron 2016, after winning the international final of Belron’s global competition in Lisbon.
27 technicians competed for the prestigious title, and the top prize of a year’s salary, with Gary Riebesehl scooping the honour of being Best of Belron 2016 after a series of excellent repairs, refits and, finally, a windscreen replacement and ADAS calibration.
On finding out he had won the competition, Gary said: “I’ve been thinking about Best of Belron since 2009 when I first entered the Safelite® competition. It’s been a pleasure to take part, and I’m hoping to share what I’ve learnt at Best of Belron 2016 back at home. I’ve had a blast!”
This exhilarating biennial event enables Belron technicians to demonstrate their extensive skills in front of hundreds of colleagues, suppliers and partners from across the globe. Alongside the competition, Best of Belron also brings together global industry leaders from the automotive, vehicle glass repair and replacement (VGRR), insurance, and fleet and lease sectors for a two-day global client conference.
This year’s conference theme was ‘Profiting from Technology: industry developments you can benefit from’ and a number of high-profile speakers discussed how technology and innovation are changing the automotive and insurance industries. Industry leaders also reflected on the impact of the digital era on cars, drivers and consumers, and how today’s businesses can best tap into the new digital age.
The conference, which was held in the MEO Arena, Lisbon at the same time as the competition, hosted key speakers such as Bryan Reimer, Associate Director from MIT, Jon McNeill, Global Sales & Service President from Tesla Motors and the Futurologist Magnus Lindkvist. The two day conference also included sessions with Google, Bosch and McKinsey & Company.
“Best of Belron 2016 was an exceptional two-day competition and conference, and we are proud to have hosted this prestigious event right here in Lisbon," said Jorge Cardoso, General Manager, Carglass® Portugal. "We invest in the development of our employees because we want our customers to have the best experience possible, because their safety is our top priority,” he continued.
