“We fled to Pakistan during the Kuwait War. We were attacked by robbers, fell sick and starved along the way. It took a whole week. I was just seven years old. I still remember seeing my mother crying while locking our front door and the sadness of leaving our home behind - not knowing whether it would be destroyed or saved in the war.
