Jurgen’s many years of experience give him a unique insight into the business and the products involved. Due to his continuous dedication to safety he is respected by all of his co-workers and is the natural ‘go to’ person regarding potentially hazardous situations. His reliability and meticulous attention to detail have safeguarded the working environment for his colleagues, preventing many accidents.
In 2018, five warehouses were moved into one new one in Bilzen. Preparations started as early as 2016 and Jurgen was involved in planning all the technical aspects of the new build. During the build, he and his team were the first point of contact for sub-contractors 24/7. Calls would start coming in at 5am, even during the weekends. Then, as the build came to completion, Jurgen oversaw the decommissioning of the old warehouses, growing his team from 4 to 10.
Separately, Jurgen has played a major role in a programme to reduce scratches and breakage of windscreens throughout the entire supply chain. He also helped develop a ‘little buddy’ for lifting train body glass in confined spaces, making it easier to manoeuvre the 80kg pieces of glass into place, and thus reducing strain on mechanics’ wrists and shoulders.
