For Belron, the most significant waste product is the glass removed from customers’ vehicles when a windscreen cannot be repaired under our Repair First strategy.
When repair is not possible, we aim to recycle glass waste and consider innovative approaches, technologies and products, and supplier partnerships to achieve this. In 2020, We recycled over 60% of our glass waste and continue to monitor and improve overall recycling rates across our businesses.
Driving down emissions
With operations across the world, and a network of branches, services centres, distribution centres and a large mobile fleet, Belron has an impact on climate change through its carbon emissions.
We work hard to understand, measure and minimise our our direct and indirect environmental impacts. Through our Repair First strategy – which on average reduces the carbon impact by 75% over replacement – and operational and cultural changes at Belron and in partnership with our suppliers, total and per-job carbon emissions continue to fall, with off-setting now a routine practice at Belron.
